It is quite interesting to note first
that J.Beard apparently operated his studio at 8, Old Bond Street
from 1868 to 1872.
As a matter of fact, this gives us a better insight into understanding
that photograph.
This Trooper is wearing the Light Dragoon
pattern tunic, with five rows of braiding (that would be replaced
by a model with 6 rows by the late 1870s).
We will note that the cuffs appear to be scarlet.
The helmet is still of the old pattern,
with black horesehair plume - a model with white horsehair plume
reputedly having been introduced in 1856.
