Dave Knight provided the following enlightnening comments about
that photograph : "This is a private of the 2nd West York YC in the 1860s
I would imagine and certainly before the plume was changed to
white in about 1875."
The bearded veteran is
proudly sporting two medals :
- The British Crimea War Medal (left)
- Most likely the Turkish Crimea Medal (right), refitted with a
British suspender.
