8th (King's Royal Irish) Hussars

Carte-de-Visite G. Schroeder, Dublin

Lieutenant

This gentleman is sporting on his collar the crown showing his rank as a lieutenant (as per pre-1880 pattern).

The specific design of the sabretache leaves no doubt as for his regiment. He's wearing the regimental pouch belt, without chain and prickers. The feathers on his busby are white over a red base.

A very interesting feature : his cap lines are tied under the collar ; this fashion is generally linked with the 7th Hussars, so there's a bit of a mistery for me here.
