United Kingdom
4th (Queen's Own) Hussars

Carte-de-Visite, unidentified photographer
Hussar Officer.

This nice portrait displays a Hussar officer and (likely) wife. His somehow exhuberant mutton-chops prevent from discerning his exact rank, but the simple Hungarian knot on his sleeve show that he is either a Cornet, or, more likely, a Lieutenant.

The regiment is can be seen on his sabretache.
The Plume is scarlet, and the busby bag yellow.
