This officer is wearing the early regimental pattern patrol jacket, with four rows of point-ended black mohair braid trimming.
The 18th Hussars will adopt a more conventinnal patrol jacket - only the 13th with keep such a short model (but with 6 rows of braiding)
 
In the group photo (sitting right), he is wearing the regimental pattern mess stable jacket, with 5 olivets and specific braiding on cuffs and lower front corners of the jacket.
