Cartes-de-Visite, studio A&C Taylor in Birmingham
Worcestershire Yeomanry Trooper.

This CDV is showing the Hussar uniform introduced in 1871 :
Astrakhan busby with horsehair scarlet plume, and a white braided scarlet bag.
This view enables us to see its specific proportions, very similar to those of the Rifle units.
Cap lines seem to be scarlet/crimson.

The tunic is described as "of blue Hussar pattern with four loops of crimson braid".
This is a highly unusual braiding colour, but it seems to be consistent with the rendition of colours by ancient photographic processes.

Dark blue overalls with scarlet cloth stripes.
